Neurotoxin type A or botulinum toxin (the pharmacological formulation of the substance), works by inactivating or otherwise relaxing the muscles responsible for creating wrinkles in our face, which is injected as a neurotoxin treatment.
NEUROTOXIN TREATMENT
Cosmetic plastic surgery has found immediate application for the treatment of intense expression wrinkles, mainly in the forehead, mid-frow and crow’s feet. By applying botulinum toxin, the appearance of wrinkles is reduced, without inhibiting the mobility of the face, a function that is desirable for a completely natural and harmonious result.
NEUROTOXIN TREATMENT
Neurotoxin treatment can be applied from the age of 30 years on average, according to the needs of each person, acting not only by suspending but also preventing the formation of expression wrinkles, as we often “forget” to use some muscle groups that we used to before and due to which the wrinkles are going to form.
Classical application areas of the neurotoxin are the forehead, the middle of the forehead, the crow’s feet, the sides of the nose (bunny lines).
In the forehead area, the neurotoxin can provide an immediate, non-surgical lift of the eyebrows and forehead as well as effectively correct any asymmetries in the height of the eyebrows.
Also, the neurotoxin is applied to the jaw area, on very square faces, or with sharp angles giving a more oval appearance.
In addition, the neurotoxin is often applied to the neck to reduce the action of the muscle that is responsible for the appearance of vertical wrinkles like strings.
On the chin, the neurotoxin reduces the appearance of orange peel when it contracts strongly and smoothes the skin.
Recently, studies from American universities have highlighted the role of neurotoxin in the treatment of depression (always in conjunction with specialized treatment of the patient), especially for its application in the area of the middle eyebrow (see more in the relevant article).
NEUROTOXIN TREATMENT
The process of applying the neurotoxin is painless and fast. It takes place in the doctor’s office. It lasts from 15-20 minutes and is done intramuscularly with a very fine needle. Of course, a local anesthetic cream can be applied to the application areas beforehand.
At the points of the injection marks there is a small pulp (lump) and redness which subsides after a while. All that is required after the neurotoxin treatment is for the next 3-4 hours the person undergoing treatment not to massage the application area, not to lie down and not to bend over.
Otherwise they can return to their daily activities normally and immediately.
The effects of neurotoxin action are evident after 3-5 days of its application and last from 4-6 months.
The face looks more relaxed, refreshed and glowing without altering its expression and normal appearance.
NEUROTOXIN TREATMENT
Injectable botulinum toxin can be combined with other injectable treatments such as hyaluronic acid fillers, mesotherapy, threads, laser treatments, peeling or other anti-aging protocols applied by Ms. Skolarikou, for a more holistic treatment and prevention of facial changes caused by endogenous or external factors.
